Description

What exactly do I mean by ‘appreciation’? In my new book, Appreciation, I focus on appreciating a person. Of course, you can also appreciate situations or life itself. In this sense, appreciation has much in common with gratitude. A nice book could also be written about that. However, in this book the focus is on appreciating a person. Valuing someone else, as well as yourself. I use the following definition of appreciation:

‘Appreciation is the perception, discovery and naming of the value and uniqueness of a person.’

In other words:

1. You listen to or look at a person attentively, to discover his uniqueness and value.
2. You take the time to perceive the beauty of the other person.
3. You meet this person, and express what you appreciate about him or her.
4. In this way, the other person experiences something of your unconditional acceptance and it becomes a little easier for that person to appreciate him/herself.

Through this book, I will take you on a journey with these three thoughts as a compass:

Chapter 1: The value of appreciation
Chapter 2: Appreciation shifts people!
Chapter 3: Mastering the skill of appreciation at home and at work.

I wish you a lot of gratification reading about and practicing the skill of appreciation, and especially so regarding the wealth you will experience when your relationships and your positive outlook on life will grow through mutual appreciation.
